Offshore RES Tool
Circular Economy Strategies for Offshore Renewable Energy
Explore how reuse, sharing, industrial symbiosis and recycling can support more circular and resource efficient offshore wind development. The Offshore RES Tool provides an interactive environment for assessing circular economy strategies in offshore renewable energy systems, with a particular focus on offshore wind. The platform explores four circular strategies: reuse, sharing, industrial symbiosis and recycling. These strategies can be analysed under three offshore wind deployment scenarios: high restriction, base case and low restriction, reflecting different assumptions about the spatial availability for offshore wind development. Depending on the selected strategy, users can investigate indicators such as material requirements, embodied energy, CO₂ emissions, electricity generation and operation and maintenance costs. Dedicated dashboards combine European maps, graphical results and detailed datasets, enabling both high level comparisons and more detailed country and case study analysis.
The tool therefore provides a practical decision support resource for researchers, policymakers, regulatory authorities, technology developers and other stakeholders working towards a more sustainable European offshore energy sector.
