The Office Buildings Tool applies the CO₂NSTRUCT space sharing methodology to office environments, exploring how more flexible and shared patterns of workplace use could reduce the amount of building space required while maintaining its functionality.

As in the residential analysis, the tool compares a no sharing baseline with strong, medium and slight willingness to share scenarios. These behavioural scenarios are combined with country specific building, occupancy and energy data to estimate changes in office building stock, operational energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.

The analysis highlights the particularly relevant role of shared working environments: willingness to share is generally higher for office space than for residential space, and the results indicate substantial potential for reducing office space demand through more intensive use of existing and new workplaces.

Interactive maps, charts and underlying datasets allow users to compare countries and scenarios and to examine both absolute impacts and percentage savings.
